Stage 3: Concept masterplan community consultation

Following the first two stages of public consultation on the future of Sir John Moore Barracks, which saw hundreds of local residents provide their thoughts and ideas on the vision for Sir John Moore Barracks, the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) has launched the latest stage of consultation, seeking feedback from the local community on the emerging proposals known as “the concept masterplan”. Two public consultation events will be held in September 2024 to allow local residents to view the concept masterplan in detail, provide feedback and discuss the proposals with the project team.

Stage 1 Consultation – Vision Statement & Design Principles

November 2023

In autumn last year, we launched the first stage of our four-stage consultation programme. This first stage focused on gathering feedback on our revised vision and development principles, as well as welcoming further ideas and feedback on the site and how it best fits in with and support the surrounding context. We are grateful to those who took the time to provide feedback via our website, speak to us at Winchester Market and attend our two consultation events held at Littleton Memorial Hall and the Henry Beaufort School in early November.

Stage 2 Consultation – Community Workshops

December 2023

The community workshops held as part of the second round of consultation and engagement in December encouraged further constructive, thoughtful and productive in-depth discussion on key topic areas of:

  • History and heritage
  • Context and site constraints
  • Climate resilience and sustainability
  • People and community

All feedback received throughout the first two stages of consultation will be considered as we begin to form the concept masterplan over the coming months.
